tree felling and removal
Dead and nuisance trees should be felled with care and efficiency to ensure minimal ground and environmental disturbance.
Tree felling is the process of cutting down trees, either with hand tools or a chainsaw. It involves cutting through the trunk and any limbs of the tree and then removing the entire tree from the ground, roots and all.
Depending on the size of the tree, it can be a dangerous process, and should only be done by trained professionals with the right equipment.
Tree pruning and shaping
Tree shaping and pruning involves cutting, trimming, or altering the shape or size of a tree or branch to maintain a desired look.
Shaping and trimming may also be done to correct any structural imbalance or to reduce the amount of shading from overhanging branches without removing the tree.
We can cut and shape any tree species, with significant experience caring for overgrown, neglected, and irregular growth trees throughout the Peak District.
tree pollarding
Tree pollarding is the cutting of trees to train them to produce new shoots from old wood. It is also done to control the height and spread of trees, especially fast-growing varieties.
Pollarding can control the size of the tree and the shape of the canopy over time. The pollarding process involves cutting back the main branches and then trimming off any smaller branches.
This can be done on a regular basis, typically every 3-5 years, to ensure that the tree is maintained at the desired size.
crown reduction
Crown reduction is a pruning technique used to reduce the size of a tree’s canopy. It involves reducing a tree’s canopy by selectively pruning back lateral branches and reducing the length of the remaining branches in order to reduce the size of the tree’s overall crown.
This type of tree pruning is usually performed to reduce the risk of tree failure caused by wind storms and to restore a tree’s aesthetic balance.
It can also be used to improve a tree’s health by reducing issues such as crowding and fungal problems in some species.
hedge trimming
Hedge trimming involves using hedge trimmers or shears to cut back overgrown hedges and shrubs to maintain the desired shape and size of the plants. It often involves making angled and curved cuts, as well as carefully trimming away dead foliage and unhealthy growth.
Additionally, pruning and shaping may be required, alongside the removal of dead wood, to clean up the hedge and surrounding area.
hedge removal
Hedge removal involves physically exposing and cutting back the roots of the hedge, disposing of the waste, filling in and levelling the area. You can replant with new plants, shrubs, and trees where desired, or leave it as a blank canvas.
Depending on the size and type of hedge, removal may require the use of tools such as loppers, shears, saws, or even a chainsaw, and digging equipment for the roots.
